Privacy Notice
What this site collects, what it does not, and who else sees anything. Last updated 10 August 2026.
AltLibre argues that most websites collect far more than they need. It would be difficult to make that argument while doing it. This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no tracking scripts of any kind.
What this site collects
Nothing that identifies you, directly. There is no analytics package, no advertising or social tracking pixel, no session cookie, no local storage of personal data, and no account system. You can read every page without anything being stored in your browser.
Server logs
The site is served by a commercial web host, which keeps standard web server access logs. These typically record the IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referring page and browser user-agent for each request. They exist for security and fault diagnosis, are not combined with anything else, are not used to build a profile of you, and are not shared with third parties for marketing.
Third parties that see your request
Two things on this site involve someone other than the host:
- Google Fonts. Typefaces are currently loaded from
fonts.googleapis.comandfonts.gstatic.com. That request discloses your IP address and user-agent to Google. This is a dependency inherited from the site’s original build rather than a deliberate choice, and it is on the list to be replaced with self-hosted font files. - Links you choose to follow. Links to LinkedIn, Bluesky and other external sites take you to services with their own privacy practices, which this notice does not cover.
Article cover images, stylesheets and scripts are all served from this domain. Nothing else is embedded: no video players, no comment system, no social widgets, no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
If you email
Emailing info@altlibre.com means your address, your message and anything you attach are received and stored in a mailbox in order to reply to you. Correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful, and is never added to a mailing list; there is no mailing list.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive a copy of it. Given how little this site holds, most such requests will be answered quickly and in the negative. Ask at info@altlibre.com.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to your own national supervisory authority if you are in the EU.
Who is responsible
AltLibre is run by Adrian Hollister from Cornwall, United Kingdom, and is the data controller for anything described above. Contact: info@altlibre.com.
Changes
If this site ever starts collecting something, such as analytics, a form or a newsletter, this page will be updated before that goes live, and the date at the top will change.
